What are the main processes of sand casting
Sand casting process:
1. Mold production
Sand casting must have its own special mold. This mold can be forged by the enterprise itself according to the drawing, or can be used directly after cooperation with other enterprises. In this process, the requirements for the mold should be high. It is very embarrassing, time-consuming and laborious not to cast the mold before the product is formed.
2. Sand mixing
Since it is sand casting, we will definitely use molding sand. However, how to use it, how much and where to use it need to be flexibly adapted according to different requirements. The molding sand used for different types of castings is different. For example, for some large castings, the quantity and specification used are more strict than the ordinary ones.
3. Shape
First, use molding sand to make the internal shape of the casting, and then match the mold, that is, put some material cores inside, and use molding sand to fix another layer. In this way, the shape of the whole sand casting will come out. It is worth reminding everyone that the molding stage is the key step of sand casting!
4. Smelting
This is a necessary procedure for every casting process. The proportion of each metal component required is well configured, the alloy material suitable for sand casting is selected, and then a certain amount of molten metal is prepared. The temperature of the molten metal must reach the standard. If it is too hot, it will damage the whole casting object. If the specified temperature is not reached, it will be easy to get too cold and not form a good shape.
5. Pouring
It is to pour the refined liquid metal into the prepared mold. This process is very dangerous in sand casting. If you are not careful about scalding, do not panic, and immediately wipe it with professional medical medicine.
6. Cleaning
This is the last step of the whole sand casting. After the liquid metal is completely solidified, clean the edges or the redundant parts. Sometimes there will be scattered sand, and the finished casting will be perfect.
This is probably the process of sand casting. After the above steps, it is basically formed. Up to now, sand casting is still a widely used method in casting production, especially suitable for single or small batch castings.
